Kids!
I'm not sure what my son is going through right now but it's not good. He feels like we're picking on him and not letting him defend himself. I guess I may have felt that way when I was a kid at times but if I talked to my parents the way he talked to me today, I would have been backhanded across the face. More importantly, I would never have thought to let things like that come out of my mouth even if I was thinking them because I respected my parents. I'm not sure where we went wrong, or even if we did, but something has to change. We probably gave him a car before he should have had one but we want our kids to have what we can afford to give them. Big mistake. Unless someone works for something, they don't appreciate it. Fact! I love him more than I can express but right now, he's not on my list of favorite people. I know that will change as soon as he starts acting human again. He spoke to me as if I were someone that he loathed. Just a teenager? Who knows but the way I think of him has changed and for now, my feelings are hurt more than he will ever know and I will never forget it.

Tricks, tricks and more tricks!
Josh is at a class today to teach him how to take and what to expect from the SAT test. One of our friend's mom is teaching the Language Arts portion of it and she said she would teach Josh for free. So we're taking advantage of it. We still have to pay for the Math part but hey, that's only 50% of what it would have cost us otherwise. That was a very nice thing for her to offer to do that for Josh.
I have taught Jessie to jump through a hula-hoop. She doesn't just jump through, she lifts all feet off the ground at the same time and kind of hops through like a circus dog. It's too cool. Both girls now will stand on their hind feet to get a treat and jump up in the air. Jessie also crawls across the ground. Roz is too cool to do that so she just lays down and barks at me. I am amazed how quickly and easily they've learned these tricks. I wish I would think of some different ones. I'm working them up to walking on their hind feet by training them to stand on their hind feet to get the treat. Eventually I hope they walk to get the treat. I'll keep you posted on how that goes. Jessie's list of tricks is: jumping through a hoop, high five, crawling, sit, down, lay sit-up, bow, jump up and stand. Roz: Speak, sit, down, stand, sit-up, jump up and bow.

Baseball
Josh is working so hard to make the Varsity Baseball team this year. Last year he didn't make it but, to be honest, he didn't prepare by practicing at all. He was heartbroken but I think he realized that it takes work to get what you want. If he doesn't make it this year, it will be a bad day. He says if he doesn't make the baseball team, he's going to go out for football, which he quit last year. Everything happens for the best. I'll keep my fingers crossed though. Try-outs start Feb. 2nd and the first cut is on the 3rd, 2009.

Lazy Monday
It's Monday and I'm doing laundry. Exciting, isn't it? Actually, I wouldn't have it any other way. My husband is working, the kids are in school and my precious greyhound girls are sleeping the morning away. I know where everyone is, they are safe and sound.
Today I have a feeling of contentment. I feel like things are going well for us (knock on wood) and our families are healthy, for the most part. The sun is shining in my windows and I'm feeling it's warmth today. Thank you God.
